SSHBuns...please take a minute to read a little about us, what we do, how we work and what we work with as a rabbitry. We are happy to work with or help in any way possible, Whether you are looking for a new rabbit, have questions or concerns with yours, or just need some general rabbit care information; we are more than happy to help in any way we can.
We raise all of our rabbits according to the ARBA standard of perfection. Each breed requires specific details which is what we strive for when raising, breeding or adding new rabbits into our barn.
The rabbitry is ran by my daughter Haylea and myself. Haylea raises Holland Lops, she's also a member of Davie 4H and is a member of ARBA youth.
I raise Mini Rex... I keep black, chocolate, otters, white, chinchilla, martens, tort and lilac. I'm also in the process of adding Netherland Dwarfs. I'm sure things will change as time goes on with the newbies, but at the moment I plan to keep otters, chins, silver martens, champagne, and black.
After a lot of inquiries about meat rabbits (which we haven't carried until now), it has helped us decide to bring in Californian rabbits; although we do not plan on showing them, we will most likely have no more than a trio for breeding. When we have them available for sale they will be offered with or without pedigree for those who may want to include them in their own pedigreed lines.
As much as we love this hobby, and enjoy helping anyone to get started, we see such a huge difference and benefit in getting kids started as youth. It definitely emphasizes discipline as well as the selflessness of caring for another being. We're always looking to work with local kids who are showing interest in rabbitry. Even though it's not required in order to have rabbits, we do prefer that once you see for sure that this is a hobby you would really like to become more involved in, you become an ARBA member if you're not already. We would be happy to help with anything you may need involving the process of obtaining your membership, choosing a breed, information from every day care to breeding to helping you get ready to show!
Since we are just getting started with a couple new breeds please be patient with us as we do take a little time bringing rabbits in. We work with a very select few breeders for each breed. We do this for a few reasons...in order to keep the bloodlines closer as well as the trust, knowing the environment that we know they'll be coming from not to mention most of these people have become our own mentors after working so closely with them. If you're looking for something specific, breed, variety, etc. don't hesitate to contact us...even though we may not raise it, it's possible we could know someone who does.
